Harry the Hirer
Harry the Hirer
Story
Hi there! We’re proud to introduce first time birdman Zac Sipek, representing Harry the Hirer for its second attempt at the Moomba Birdman Rally 2026.
A recent addition to the Harry the Hirer team, Zac brings a calm, laid-back attitude shaped by years in hospitality and just enough confidence to believe he can fly. Tall, long-limbed, and always up for anything, he was the natural choice to pilot Harry the Heron, our heron-inspired craft launching from the banks of the Yarra.
We’re taking part in Birdman to redeem ourselves from last years attempt and to raise funds for Very Special Kids, an incredible organisation we work with on events throughout the year that support children and families facing life-threatening conditions. The heron a familiar sight along the Yarra symbolises patience, resilience and quiet determination, values that align closely with both Harry the Hirer and the work of Very Special Kids.
Wearing a full heron costume and embracing wholesome, silly Moomba energy, Zac’s goal is simple: take flight, look graceful doing it, and ideally make it to the other side of the Yarra all in support of a truly meaningful cause. Whether he soars or splashes, he’ll be doing it cool, calm, collected, and fully committed to the bird.
You can show your support by making a secure online donation and by posting a message with your donation.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity of choice.
Thanks so much for your support!
Very Special Kids
At Very Special Kids, we believe that all children and young people have the right to quality of life, no matter how long or short their life may be. When it comes to navigating the difficult journey of life-limiting childhood illness, we understand experiences are unique to each child and family, and we tailor our services to their needs. We are always by each family's side, with specialised and comprehensive support systems so they can create the positive experiences that become lasting memories. We are changing the way society deals with terminal childhood illnesses. As one of Victoria's leaders in holistic children's palliative care, we are working to make the world a better, more supportive and knowledgeable place for children with life-limiting conditions, and their families.
